About

Paper Planes

The evolution of Paper Planes over the last decade is the epitome of our tagline, “Greatness Is A Process.” Founded in 2014 as a lifestyle brand by Jay-Z, co-founder and Chairman of Roc Nation, and Emory Jones, Head of Lifestyle at Roc Nation, Paper Planes has grown into a legendary apparel line sought after and worn by artists and athletes alike.

Jones’ visionary design captures the essence and connective tissue that differentiates Paper Planes from other brands — music, culture, storytelling, and manifesting your dreams. The signature black and white American flag, shaped like a paper plane, that adorns our apparel, is more than just a logo; it symbolizes the idea of mentally reaching a destination before physically arriving there.

In 2018, JAY-Z trademarked Paper Planes, solidifying us as an independent brand. Shortly thereafter, in 2023, we opened our flagship store in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood. Since then, the name Paper Planes has become synonymous with street fashion, and our collection of clothes and accessories is available at stores nationwide. We collaborate with brands and individuals from diverse backgrounds, all of whom infuse their authenticity, identity, and artistic flair into the attire they design. Blending our cultural roots with sports, we partner with major leagues like the NFL and MLB to create exclusive collections, providing sports fans with the gear to radiate championship energy all year long. From casual to sophisticated, at Paper Planes, we continually push boundaries and reimagine the fashion industry to exceed your style needs and elevate you to new heights.

Roc Nation

Paper Planes’ founding partner, Roc Nation, is one of the foremost, acclaimed entertainment organizations worldwide, renowned for its premier capabilities and clientele. Established and led by some of the most innovative and forward-thinking individuals in the industry, Roc Nation was co-founded by JAY-Z, Jay Brown (Vice Chairman), Desiree Perez (Chief Executive Officer), Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith (President of A&R), and Juan Perez (President of Roc Nation Sports) in 2008.

In nearly two decades, Roc Nation has amplified the careers and success of chart-topping artists, producers, and songwriters through its unmatched talent management, music publishing, production, touring, and strategic brand development services, among other offerings. From negotiating sold-out arena tours for Megan Thee Stallion, Alicia Keys, and Lil Uzi Vert, to securing lucrative brand partnerships and endorsement deals for clients, Roc Nation's position at the peak of the industry comes in part from an unwavering commitment to those it represents. Expanding its talent roster in 2013, Roc Nation established a new division dedicated to providing the same support and opportunities to athletes as it does for musicians — Roc Nation Sports. In the years that followed, semi-professional and professional athletes such as Kevin De Bruyne, Skylar Diggins, Robinson Canó, and LaMelo Ball have leveraged Roc Nation's extensive network and global reach to foster long-term career growth both within and outside the sports arena.

Outside of their professional endeavors, Roc Nation uplifts the philanthropic projects of its clients by contributing resources and a platform to increase awareness of the causes that are meaningful to them. Within its internal branch, Team Roc, which is designated for activism and humanitarian efforts, Roc Nation actively seeks out and champions initiatives working to advance social good, promote access to education, and put an end to racial injustices.
